1968 Mira Tuttosport and 1969 Topps Basketball Lew Alcindor Rookie Cards (2)
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,175
Pair of high-grade rookie cards featuring Hall of Famer Lew Alcindor (aka Kareem Abdul Jabbar) from two different issues. 1)1968 Mira Tuttosport #490 (SGC VG/EX 50). This foreign issue (Italian) represents the earliest appearance of Alcindor on a trading card. Harshly graded. This card has a Near Mint appearance but on close inspection there is a very light and insignificant wrinkle through the flag in the upper right. We can't help but think that this extremely overlooked rarity is a card that will be recognized for its great significance in the years to come. 2) 1969-1970 Topps #25 (PSA NM-MT 8). Pack-fresh example, with bright colors, flawless image, four sharp corners, and perfect centering. Bordering on Mint condition. Jabbar is universally recognized as one of the greatest players in NBA history. Holder of numerous career records, Jabbar was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1995. The following year he was selected as one of the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players by a panel of experts. Total 2 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,175
