Trio of high-quality original Rube Marquard photos, culled from The Chicago Sun Times archives, two taken by Charles Conlon, one credited to Paul Thompson. 1) Charles Conlon photo of Rube Marquard as a member of the New York Giants (6.75 x 5 inches). Reverse markings include Conlon's "Evening Telegram" credit stamp, a "Sep 20 1912" date stamp, and a "From the N. Y. Herald Syndicate" credit stamp. 2) Charles Conlon photo of Rube Marquard as a member of the Brooklyn Dodgers (6.5 x 8.5 inches). Reverse markings include Conlon's "Evening Telegram" credit stamp, the handwritten date "3-6-19," a New York Herald credit stamp ("The N. Y. H. Service"), and a small, undated, paper news caption. 3) Paul Thompson photo study of Rube Marquard's pitching grip (5 x 7 inches). Reverse markings include Paul Thompson's credit stamp, an "Oct 20, 1911" date stamp, and written captions for the photo that read in part: "The hands that will battle for the 'Giants' in the World's Championship series between New York and Phila...Marquard's fingers in position for delivering a 'jump' ball." All of the photos are in exceptionally high grade, free from many of the minor flaws common to nearly all working press photos. Excellent condition. Total: 3 photos. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+.
