1964 Frank Robinson Signed Pro-Model Bat
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $7,050
Frank Robinson H&B signature-model "P89" bat dating from the 1964 season. Graded GU8 by PSA/DNA. The bat displays heavy use, including numerous ball and stitch marks, rack marks, pine tar, and an approximate four-inch crack in the handle. Robinson's uniform number ("20") is written on the knob in faded black marker (very light, but still legible). Also, the name Frank Robinson is scripted in faded blue ink on the knob, but it is not Robinson's signature and may have been written by a previous owner for identification purposes. Robinson has signed the bat in blue Sharpie (grading "10") on the sweet spot. Robinson batted .306 with 29 home runs and 96 RBI in 1964 with the Reds, numbers which helped him finish fourth in the voting for MVP at season's end. Robinson was one of the greatest sluggers of his era and his lifetime total of 586 places him seventh on the all-time list. A former Rookie of the Year and twelve-time All-Star, he is also the only player to win the MVP Award in both the American and National Leagues. Length: 35 inches. Weight: 32 ounces. Graded GU8 by PSA/DNA. LOAs from John Taube and Vince Malta of PSA/DNA and James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $7,050
