1968 Tito Francona Atlanta Braves Game-Used Home Jersey
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,293
Atlanta Braves flannel home jersey worn by journeyman outfielder/first baseman Tito Francona during the 1968 season. Graded a perfect A10 by MEARS. This is a scarce "style" jersey, as it was only worn by the Braves for the four-year period 1968-1971. The white-pinstripe jersey is lettered "Braves" across the front and features the number "19" on the reverse. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in navy blue tackle twill. A Braves team patch appears on the left sleeve. Francona's name, the year, and set number ("Francona 1968-set 1") are chain-stitched in black upon a white strip tag located in the collar. A "Wilson 42" label is situated on the left front tail. The jersey is completely original, with no alterations, and displays moderate wear throughout. Francona appeared in 122 games with the Braves in 1968, finishing the year with 2 home runs, 47 RBI, and a .286 average. Graded A10 by MEARS. This is the only Tito Francona jersey, and one of only two 1968 Braves jerseys listed in the MEARS census. LOA from Troy Kinunen and Dave Grob/MEARS. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000.
