1910 The National Game by A. H. Spink

First edition of The National Game by Alfred Spink (National Publishing Co., St. Louis, 1910). The 410-page book (6.5 x 9.25 inches) provides a history of the game, beginning with the 1833 Olympic Club of Philadelphia, through 1910. This is THE baseball book of the 1910 era, presenting a complete history of the game, with literally hundreds of photographs. This book is also considered by many to the finest and most substantial of all early historical baseball books. Our consignor purchased this book many years ago from Bauman Rare Books in New York City and it is accompanied by its original Bauman sale description. The red cloth boards display light wear and the interior pages display a hint of a very light diagonal crease in the upper right corner and a few unobtrusive pencil notations and underlined words. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Reserve $200. Estimate $300/$500. SOLD FOR $411
