1883 New York (vs. Cincinnati) American Association Scorecard

This rare fold-over scorecard commemorates an American Association game between the New York Metropolitans and Cincinnati Red Stockings held at the Polo Grounds in New York on August 18, 1883 (date preprinted on the front cover). The preprinted lineups include McPhee, Reilly, Jones, and Snyder for Cincinnati, and Nelson, Brady, Roseman, and Lynch for New York. The scorecard is neatly scored in pencil and records a 3-2 win by New York. The American Association was formed in 1882 and remained in existence for ten seasons before folding. This scorecard dates from the league's second season and represents an outstanding early example. The scorecard (3.75 x 6 inches, folded) displays light corner wear and is otherwise in Excellent condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $300+. SOLD FOR $470
