Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, and Honus Wagner Cut Signature Display Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,880

This highly desirable collection of cut signatures, each encapsulated by a leading grading company, features three of the greatest players in baseball history: Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, and Walter Johnson. Each of the signatures have been framed, together with either a photo or likeness of the respective player, to create three stunning wall displays. 1) Ty Cobb. Black fountain-pen signature (grading "9") on a 2 x 1.25-inch sheet (Nr-Mt). Encapsulated and labeled "Authentic" by PSA/DNA. Ex. Matted and framed together with a modern-day print (9.5 x 7.5 inch) of Cobb as a member of the Philadelphia A's. Total dimensions: 15 x 18 inches. 2) Honus Wagner. Pencil inscription, reading "Honus Wagner - Pirates 1942" (grading "8"), on a 4 x 1-inch sheet. The cut, which appears to have been coated with a clear layer of protective shellac, was at one time previously matted, and is bordered on all sides by an approximate .25-inch swatch of the former matting. Ex. Encapsulated and labeled "Authentic" by PSA/DNA. Matted and framed together with a photographic enlargement of Wagner's image from the famous T206 tobacco card (5 x 9 inches). Total dimensions: 14.5 x 21.25 inches. 3) Walter Johnson. Pencil signature (grading "9") on an irregularly shaped 3 x 1-inch sheet that has been affixed to a slightly larger and more uniform 3 x 1.25 sheet. Nr-Mt. Encapsulated and labeled "Authentic" by Beckett/JSA. Matted and framed together with a modern-day print (7 x 9-inch) of Johnson as member of the Washington Senators. Total dimensions: 12 x 18 inches. Total: 3 cut signatures in three framed displays. (Note: the three encapsulated cut signatures could easily be removed from the framed displays if desired.) LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000.
