Hall of Fame Autograph Collection with Cobb and Wagner

This attractive group of nine Hall of Fame signatures, plus those of Gil Hodges and Elston Howard, is highlighted by government postcards signed, respectively, by Ty Cobb and Honus Wagner. Cobb has scripted his name in blue ink (grading "10") and added the date "8/9/49" below his signature. The card (5.5 x 3.25 inches) has been mailed and is postmarked "8/10/49" from Glenbrook, Nevada. Ex, with light adhesive residue on the front from having once been mounted in an album. Wagner's blue-ink signature, penned "Honus Wagner," is equally impressive and also grades "10." The card is addressed but was never mailed. Ex, with light adhesive residue and minor surface paper loss on the front from having once been mounted in an album. Unless otherwise noted, all of the remaining signatures have been scripted in either blue or black ink (grading "9" or "10") and are matted together with a recent print of the respective player (mat dimensions average 11 x 14 inches). Most of the signatures are penned on 3 x 5-inch cards or similar-sized items that have been affixed to the back mount by means of tape. In addition to Honus Wagner and Ty Cobb, the remainder of the collection is comprised of the following: 1) Connie Mack. In vintage black fountain pen on a 3 x 1.5-inch cut. Matted and framed together with a 7.5 x 10-inch vintage studio photograph (Nr-Mt) produced by "H. M. Wagner." 2) Rogers Hornsby. In vintage black fountain pen on an autograph album page. 3) Goose Goslin. 4) Nelson Fox. On a card that also bears the salutation "Best Wishes" (salutation matted out). 5) Casey Stengel. Matted together with a a magazine photo. 6) Ernie Lombardi. 7) Sam Rice. 8) Elston Howard. 9) Gil Hodges. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Total: 11 signed items. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+.
