1921 Grover Alexander Signed Exhibit Card
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $2,233
1921 exhibit card of Hall of Fame pitcher Grover Alexander; signed by Alexander ("G C Alexander") across his image in vintage blue fountain pen. The card, issued by the Exhibit Supply Company of Chicago, Ill., pictures Alexander warming up on the sidelines as a member of the Chicago Cubs. PSA/DNA has encapsulated the card and graded the signature MINT 9. The diagonal signature across Alexander's white uniform is ideal, allowing for perfect contrast. The card itself displays well but is technically low grade, with rounded corners, a small piece of clear tape on the left border, a small tack hole at the top, and a few neatly-written vintage ink notations on the front and reverse. Alexander passed away in 1950 and his signature is rarely found on exhibit cards from the era. This is an outstanding high-grade signature example and one that would make a fine addition to any signed vintage card or advanced Hall of Fame autograph collection. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $2,233
