Two High-Grade 1968 Topps 3-D Cards (Davis PSA MINT 9 and Maloney PSA NM-MT 8)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $823

Offered are two high-grade cards from the extremely rare 1968 Topps 3-D set: Willie Davis (PSA MINT 9) and Jim Maloney (PSA NM-MT 8). In the world of baseball-card collecting, many serious collectors revere the 1968 Topps 3-D set more than any other set of its era. Whether these cards were issued in stores remains a mystery, but legend has always had it that, as a test, a few boxes appeared in selected stores in the Brooklyn, New York, area. To the best of our knowledge, however, most 1968 Topps 3-D cards can ultimately be traced back to someone who worked at Topps or the Xograph, the company that produced these cards for Topps. Because of their extreme rarity, as well as their very striking and unique design, advanced collectors have always held 1968 Topps 3-D cards in the highest esteem. The fragile nature of all 3-D cards (very susceptible to surface cracks) make high-grade examples all the rarer. This is a very attractive pair of cards from this highly prized set, both in extremely high grade. Total 2 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+. SOLD FOR $823
