1964 Topps Stand-Up Collection (360)

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $5,581

Large collection of 360 assorted 1964 Topps Stand-Up cards, including a near-complete set of 60 different (of the 77 in the set), highlighted by many Hall of Famers and stars. 90% of the cards range in grade from Ex to Nr/Mt averaging Ex-Mt, 10% in slightly lesser grades (almost all of these 10% lower-grade cards are Vg or better). These cards were almost certainly purchased in the 1970s from hobby pioneer Bruce Yeko’s Wholesale Card Company. In the 1960s Yeko somehow obtained a significant quantity of 1964 Topps Stand-Ups, probably directly from Topps, and while he did not have complete sets he did have groups of 50+ different cards which he offered for years through his fixed-price catalog in the early days of the hobby. Most of the card-collecting world’s high-grade 1964 Topps Stand-Ups can be traced back to Yeko, especially larger assorted groups such as this extremely substantial collection of 360 assorted cards. Sixty different players are represented, of which, thirty-six are represented with quantities of seven cards per player, and twenty-four are represented with various quantities, including seven scarce single-print cards. The numbers in parentheses following the player’s name indicates quantity of that particular card. We selected twelve cards from this group to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. The collection is comprised of the following: Aaron (2 – EX/NM 80 and EX+ 70), Aguire (7), Altman (7), Alvis (7), Aspromonte (7), Banks (5 – EX/NM 80, Ex, three Vg-Ex), Barber (7), Battey (7), Boyer (8), Broglio, (7), Callison (7), Cash SP (Vg), Causey (7), Cepeda (7), Charles (7), Clemente (3 – NM 84, EX 60, VG/EX 50), Clendenon SP (Ex-Mt), Colavito (5), Davis (7), Ellsworth (7), Farrell (7), Fregosi (7), Friend (7), Gentile (8), Gonzalez SP (Gd-Vg), Groat (7), Held (8), Hinton (7), E.
