1957 F162 Swift Meats Complete Set (18)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,819
Condition Addendum: The printed catalog description refers to the offered set as being in Nr/Mt-Mt condition. As can be seen in the illustration, upon closer inspection, there is an extremely tiny production-related edge chip in the Hank Aaron card.
Complete set of all eighteen cards issued in 1957 by Swift Meats in virtually perfect Nr/Mt-Mt condition. Available direct from Swift Meats only by mail, the set is presented in three uncut perforated sheets of six cards each as originally issued. Cards from this unique and very colorful set were meant to be punched out and assembled to create 3-D figures of the players. Keys: Hank Aaron, Nellie Fox, Frank Robinson, Richie Ashburn, and Rocky Colavito (all perfect Nr/Mt-Mt condition). Also included is the paper game board which was produced to accompany the set and which allows for a game to be played with the figures. The board is in virtually Mint condition. Also accompanying the set is the original Swift Meats envelope in which the set was originally packaged. The envelope has advertising for "Swift Major League Baseball Game." The envelope is in Very Good to Excellent condition with original mailing label and metered postage attached. The cards are bright and crisp, and have obviously remained untouched and perfectly protected since 1957. This is a virtually flawless complete set of this unique 1950s regional issue in its original and ideal form, looking exactly as it did when it arrived in the mail in 1957. Extremely attractive and colorful. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $3,819
