1955 Stahl-Meyer Franks Mickey Mantle
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,644
Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. Very attractive example of 1955 Stahl-Meyer Mickey Mantle. This is one of the rarest and most attractive of all Mantle cards, and the key card to the set. Stahl-Meyers were regionally issued in the New York area, one card per package, with Stahl-Meyer Franks. The set features a selection of stars from all three New York teams. Don't be fooled by the grade on this impressive Mantle example! Stahl-Meyers are usually found with serious condition problems relating to their method of issue, including heavy creases and hot dog stains. This is a very pleasing mid-grade Stahl-Meyer of Mickey Mantle, the key card to the set. The card has a few very light creases, primarily in the lower portion of the card, and a couple spots of light soiling, but is still a very striking card with tremendous eye-appeal. These flaws have resulted in this card receiving a grade of Good, but its appearance is clearly far superior to that suggested by its modest but technically accurate grade. This is an exceptional mid-grade example of one of the keys of all 1950s regional issues, and one of the most highly prized of all Mantle cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $2,644
