1953 Glendale Meats Collection (27)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,938
Collection of twenty-seven cards (fourteen different of the twenty-eight in the set plus thirteen duplicates) from the 1953 Glendale Meats set, one of the most popular and rare food issues of the 1950s: Batts (Vg), three Bucha (all Vg), five Delsing (four grade Vg, one Gd), two Erickson (both Vg), Ginsberg (Gd), two Gray (Gd-Vg and Gd), Hatfield (Vg), two Herbert (Vg and Gd), Jordan (Vg), Madison (Vg-Ex), two Nieman (Gd-Vg and Pr), two Priddy (Vg-Ex and Gd-Vg), two Souchock (both Gd-Vg), and two Wight (Gd and Pr). These are all attractive cards, in most cases superior to what is normally found for Glendales, many with an Excellent appearance at a glance, but appropriately downgraded due to normal mostly minor flaws. These cards are all from the Charlie Conlon Collection, and are all cards that he acquired and upgraded over the years in putting together his prize number-one high-grade complete set. This is an unusually large group of very attractive assorted Glendales that, with fourteen different cards, would make a great start toward the assembly of a complete medium-grade set of this popular 1950s regional food issue. Total 27 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $2,938
