1949 Sealtest Phillies Nicholson and Simmons (2)
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $705
Pair of extremely rare regional Phillies cards (3.5 x 4.25 inches) issued in 1949 in the Philadelphia area by Sealtest Dairy. Both the Sealtest set and the Lummis Peanut Butter set used the same design (although Sealtest cards were produced with peel-off sticker backs), photos, and checklist of Phillies players to advertise their product on the reverse of each card in the 12-card set. This is an extremely sharp pair. We have submitted both of these crisp gems to SGC for grading: Bill Nicholson (NM 84) and Curt Simmons (NM+ 86). Two very attractive, extremely high grade examples of these exceptionally rare postwar food issues, which advanced collectors recognize as among the rarest of all regional card issues. Total 2 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $705
