Ultra High-Grade 1949 Bowman SGC-Graded Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,058

Collection of three incredibly high-grade cards from the classic 1949 Bowman set, each graded and encapsulated by SGC. These are extraordinary high-grade gems. It is hard not to do a "double take" when presented with this trio due to their condition. REA chose these three gems to submit for grading by SGC as they jumped out as the finest in a large stack of very clean 1949 Bowmans from the Charlie Conlon Collection. We rarely see 1949 Bowmans this sharp. Each is either the highest or the second highest graded example by SGC. 1) #1 Vern Bickford (NM/MT+ 92. Natural condition rarity; only one example graded higher by SGC; centered slightly to the bottom, 60/40 T/B, with a bold, crisp red background, perfectly clean front and back, with four sharp corners). 2) #19 Bobby Brown (MINT 96. Highest graded by SGC; well centered with flawless registration, four sharp corners, a bold purple background, and a perfect reverse). 3) #20 Gene Hermanski (NM/MT 88. Highest graded by SGC; four sharp corners, perfect registry, and centered just a hint towards the left, 40/60 L/R). 1949 Bowmans are particularly difficult to find in such high grade due to the quality of the paper stock on which they are printed, which makes them so susceptible to soft corners. This is an extraordinarily crisp group, with each card a world-class example worthy of the finest 1949 Bowman set. These are difficult to value because of their extraordinary condition. Total 3 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $1,058
