1887 N173 Goodwin Old Judge Cabinet Tim Keefe

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,233

Graded FAIR 20 by SGC. 1887 N173 Goodwin Old Judge cabinet card of Hall of Famer Tim Keefe of the New York Giants (pitching, right hand waist high). All Old Judge cabinets are extremely desirable, especially those of Hall of Famers. Tim Keefe, of course, is one of the most prominent of all nineteenth-century Hall of Famers, with 342 lifetime wins during his 14-year Major League career (1880-1893). The image on the card is bold with strong contrast. The photograph is in Excellent condition. The cabinet card mount has two very tiny pinholes in the upper corners which, though incredibly small, have a significant impact on the SGC-assigned grade. On the blank reverse is some light soiling and two tiny spots (top left corner and middle of left edge) of surface paper loss. This is a very striking and attractive card, which, aside from the noted minor faults, is in Excellent condition, and has an appearance that is far superior to its technically accurate SGC assigned grade. This is an exceptional Hall of Famer example from one of the nineteenth century's most revered sets. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $2,233
