1935 R321 Goudey "4-in-1" Babe Ruth PSA EX 5

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $823

Graded EX 5 by PSA. Very attractive example of the key card from the 1935 Goudey “4-in-1” set, featuring Babe Ruth on his final card issued during his playing days. This is a fascinating card. While Ruth is identified with the Boston Braves, Goudey has actually borrowed and cropped the Yankee dugout pose image of Ruth’s card #181 from the 1933 Goudey series. The three other players who appear on the card are McManus, Brandt, and Maranville. The puzzle section on the reverse is “Picture 3 Card A.” The 1935 Goudey cards are particularly hard to find in high grade. The color flush-to-the-border design makes them very susceptible to edge and corner wear. This is an unusually clean example of Babe Ruth, with very light wear on the edges and corners, no creases, and centered slightly towards the top right (approximately 60/40 L/R and 35/65 T/B). This is a very attractive example of one of Babe Ruth’s most overlooked but significant cards: his final card from his playing days. The SMR value is $1,150. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $823
