1935 R321 Goudey "4 in 1" Babe Ruth PSA-Graded Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,998

Collection of three 1935 R321 Goudey “4-in-1” cards, all featuring Hall of Famer Babe Ruth, each graded and encapsulated by PSA. One PSA EX 5 (bright and clean front and back, no creases, virtually no chipping on the edges, even wear on the corners, and centered 80/20 left to right), and two PSA VG-EX 4 (one example is bright and crisp, with no creases but with corner wear, and is centered 60/40 left to right; and the other is well centered, with vibrant colors, and light, even wear on the corners). This has always been a fascinating card featuring Babe Ruth on his last issued card from his playing days. Although Ruth is identified with the Boston Braves, Goudey has actually borrowed and cropped the Yankee dugout pose image of Ruth’s card #181 from the 1933 Goudey series. The three other players who appear on the card are McManus, Brandt, and Hall of Famer Rabbit Maranville. Each card pictures a different puzzle section on the reverse (three of the four possible back variations for this card front): “Picture 1 Card J” (PSA VG-EX 4), “Picture 3 Card A” (PSA EX 5), and “Picture 5 Card A” (PSA VG-EX 4). The 1935 Goudeys are particularly hard to find in high grade. The color flush-to-the-border design makes them very susceptible to edge and corner wear. This is a very impressive, crisp, clean, conservatively graded collection of three key 1930s Goudey cards. These cards naturally each have tremendous eye appeal; together, they look even more impressive. These R321 Goudey “4-in-1” cards present an extraordinary value for quality Ruth cards from the 1930s. This is a very attractive collection of three 1935 R321 Goudeys, featuring Babe Ruth on the final card issued during his playing days. Total 3 cards. The total SMR value for the assigned grades is $2,650. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $1,998
