1912 T207 Brown Background Irving Lewis - Emblem
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,525
Graded VG 40 by SGC. Offered is the rare Irving Lewis (emblem on sleeve variation) card, a significant rarity from the popular T207 Brown Background series. While the Lowdermilk is the most famous of all the rarities in the T207 series, because it was originally listed in the American Card Catalog as the only rare card in the set, many advanced collectors consider Lewis even rarer. In fact, since the 1970s many collectors have considered Irving Lewis to be the rarest card in the set. This example of the Lewis, emblem on sleeve T207 variation, has a light crease near the lower left corner, rounded corners and edge wear, and is slightly centered toward the bottom border (approximately 65/35). Broadleaf Cigarettes advertisement on reverse. Today collectors recognize many cards as being of various degrees of rarity in the T207 set, but Lewis (emblem on sleeve) will always be recognized as one of the key rarities from the classic T207 set. This is a very attractive low- to mid-grade example of this key T207 rarity. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $3,525
