1912 E300 Plow's Candy Collection (7)
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,763
Please Note: There are seven cards in this lot. The reference to six cards in the printed catalog is an error. We apologize for any confusion.
Seven low-grade examples from the extremely elusive 1912 Plow's Candy card issue, including several that are very attractive for their modest grades. We have selected three cards (the strongest of the group) to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. The collection consists of the following: Cy Barger (SGC GOOD 30), Joe Benz (SGC FAIR 20), Nixey Callahan (paper loss on the bottom, otherwise Vg-Ex), Bill Dahlen (paper loss on front and back, otherwise Ex), George Moriarty (tear on the left edge, otherwise Vg-Ex), Rube Oldring (SGC GOOD 30), and Billy Sullivan (heavy creasing, Pr). This unusual sepia-toned, large-format (3 x 4 inches) candy issue was not even known to exist until the 1960s, and is among the rarest candy cards of the era. The three graded cards, in particular, are very attractive, and in our opinion have better eye-appeal than their technically accurate assigned grades. This group of seven is a very presentable representation of these substantial and significant rarities. Total 7 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,763
