1911 Zeenut Buck Weaver
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,233
Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. Very scarce and desirable Buck Weaver card from the 1911 Zeenut PCL series. One of the few and perhaps the most majestic of all issued cards featuring Weaver, a member of the infamous 1919 Black Sox. He is pictured in full uniform with San Francisco of the Pacific Coast League, before his Major League playing days with the Chicago White Sox. The card is bright and crisp, with even wear on the corners, a single horizontal crease that runs through his ankles, a few tiny surface abrasions below his right hand, and centered slightly to the bottom. The reverse has some light soiling and a couple tiny surface abrasions. A very presentable example of what many collectors consider to be Weaver’s most attractive and desirable card from this scarce early minor league issue. Disclosure Notice: This card has been consigned to this auction from the personal collection of SGC principle David Forman. Mr. Forman purchased this card in the open market at public auction, already graded, just as is the case with all four SGC-graded cards Mr. Forman is selling from his personal collection in this auction. This disclosure is being made at his insistence (and with our blessing) to avoid even the potential appearance of impropriety. In addition to SGC's lifetime written guarantees, which apply to all SGC-graded cards, REA will allow the winner of any or all of the cards from Mr. Forman's personal collection a six-month full-return privilege for any reason if desired. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $2,233
