1911 T205 Gold Border Hall of Famers and Rarities Collection (17)
Starting Bid - $1,500, Sold For - $11,750
Collection of seventeen T205 Gold Border cards (16 different, includes duplicate of rare Bresnahan/mouth open), of which ten are graded and encapsulated by SGC, with grades ranging from SGC VG 40 to SGC NM+ 86. This is a very attractive collection of mid- to high-grade T205 Gold Borders comprised exclusively of key cards in the set. The collection includes five Hall of Famers and eleven rarities, plus one Minor Leaguer (NM 84). The collection consists of the following: two Bresnahan/mouth open (EX/NM 80 and EX 60), Chase/left ear (Vg), Collins/mouth closed (Ex), Dougherty/white sock (EX 60), Duffy (Ex), Graham/Cubs (VG 40), Grant (Ex), Harmon/left ear (EX+ 70), Karger (NM+ 86), Kleinow (Vg), Phelan/minor leaguer (NM 84), Shean/Cubs (VG 40), Sweeney (Vg), Suggs (Vg), Walsh (EX+ 70, registration just a touch off), and Wilhelm/missing letter "r" (EX 60). The T205 Gold Border set is one of card collecting's most popular, as well as condition-sensitive, issues. The easily damaged gold borders make collecting the set in high grade particularly challenging. The many Hall of Famers and rare cards also make this set difficult to complete. This is a very attractive group of T205 rarities and Hall of Famers saved by an old-time collector. We received these cards ungraded; the ten graded cards were submitted to SGC for grading by REA. The equivalent SMR value for just the ten SGC-graded cards (not including the seven ungraded cards) is $6,295. Total 17 cards. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000/$5,000+. SOLD FOR $11,750
