1910 E125 American Caramel Die-cut John Flynn - SGC EX/NM 80
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,058
Graded EX/NM 80 by SGC. Rare high-grade E125 American Caramel sample card featuring first baseman John Flynn (running pose) from the Pittsburgh Pirates of the National League. In addition to being the highest-graded E125 example of Flynn, this is the only E125 of any player to be graded EX/NM 80 by SGC , and the second-highest graded example of any player (only one E125 has ever been graded higher, at NM 84). A virtually flawless example for an E125 (these cards almost always have at least minor condition problems) with absolutely no creases or tiny surface wrinkles, and some light age toning on the bottom portion of the card. The reverse, with advertisement and checklist, is bright and perfectly clean. The stand-up tabs are intact and have never even been folded back. E125 die-cuts are among the rarest of all 1910-era candy issues. No full set is known to exist, and due to their considerable rarity, even the checklist of the set is still a work in progress some ninety years after its issue. John Flynn had a somewhat modest career but did hit .274 his rookie year in 1910. He played in the majors for only three years, from 1910 to 1912. This is an extremely high grade sample card from this rare and unique 1910-era baseball die-cut caramel-card set. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,058
