1910-Era Red Dooin Candy Card Collection (3)

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $940

Collection of three different 1910-era candy cards, all featuring the same batting pose of Red Dooin, each graded and encapsulated by SGC. This is a fascinating group. One of the primary characteristics of the “E” card sets of the 1910 era is that many sets share the same design for the same players. This high-quality collection of three cards is representative and captures the spirit of the “E” card sets, illustrating the same player in the exact same batting pose for three different key candy issues. Each card is an extremely striking example on its own, but together they compliment one another, and tell the story of the “E” card sets. The artwork on the Red Dooin card is particularly striking, colorful, and detailed, making this an ideal subject for this type of collection. All three cards have been graded and encapsulated by SGC: 1) E105 Mello-Mint (VG 40. Bright and crisp, front and back, with vibrant colors, perfect registration, snow-white borders, even wear on the corners, and a perfectly printed Mello-Mint advertisement on the reverse). 2) E92 Croft’s Candy (GOOD 30. Centered slightly to the left, with a couple light creases, evenly rounded corners, and a perfectly clean reverse with bold blue text). 3) E102 “Set of 25” (VG 40. Well centered, crisp and clean, with brilliant colors, and with a very slight diamond cut). This beautifully assembled collection of three candy cards is perfect for display, and with a little hunting and a little work, additional Dooin "E" cards with different backs could be added to the collection. Total 3 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $940
