1909-1911 T206 Christy Mathewson - Portrait - PSA NM 7

Starting Bid - $1,500, Sold For - $7,050

Graded NM 7 by PSA. Of the 453 examples graded by PSA, only nine cards have been graded higher. This is a very attractive example of one of the three classic poses of Christy Mathewson from the T206 White Borders series. The T206 Christy Mathewson portrait pose is one of the most popular of all T206s, and one of the most highly regarded of all Mathewson cards. This example has a particularly bold image, which really "jumps" from the card, and extremely vibrant colors. In our opinion, this card has been very slightly trimmed across the top border, though someone else could have a different opinion. Centered slightly towards the top right (approximately 60/40 L/R and 40/60 T/B). This is very sharp-looking card; extremely clean, both front and back, with four sharp corners. Sweet Caporal advertising on the reverse is centered to the left. SMR value for the assigned grade is $5,000. Reserve $1,500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $7,050
