1910 D380 Clement Bros. Bread SGC-Graded Collection (6)
Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $7,050
Collection of six different D380 Clement Bros. Bread cards featuring Rochester (Eastern League) players, each graded by SGC: Alperman (FAIR 20), Lagoe (POOR 10), Osborn (VG 40), Pattee (VG/EX 50), Ragan (VG 40, advertising reverse is printed upside-down and slightly off-center), and Tooley (VG 40). This early bakery series was regionally issued only in the Rochester, New York, area circa 1910. The D380 set is similar in rarity and design to the 1909 Clement Bros. Bread set, but the 1909 set features portraits of the players in ovals, and the 1910 set does not. The 1910 set also features a combination of full-length shots and portraits. Clement Bros. Bread cards were issued one card per loaf of bread, and measure 1.5 x 2.75 inches. The reverse of each card features advertising for Clement Bros. bakery's bread and pies. All Clement Bros. Bread cards are extremely rare. These cards were saved by our consignor, a lifelong collector who lives in Rochester, New York, and who has specialized in collecting Rochester-related baseball cards and memorabilia for the past three decades. This collection includes several particularly strong examples, and though the cards in this lot technically vary in grade, even the lowest-graded example has tremendous eye-appeal. This is an exceptional collection of six cards from this extremely rare issue. Total 6 cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $7,050
