1938 R55 Gumakers of America Frank Buck "Bring 'Em Back Alive" Original Wax Box with 66 Unopened Packs

Starting Bid - $5,000, Sold For - $29,375

Presented is a 1938 R55 Gumakers of America Frank Buck "Bring 'Em Back Alive" display box with sixty-six original unopened one-cent wax packs. This box is one of the most extraordinary highlights from a newly discovered find of rare unopened 1930s nonsport cards offered in this auction. This box originally held 100 one-cent wax packs. The Frank Buck "Bring 'Em Back Alive" series was based on the adventures of Frank Buck, the world's greatest hunter, and the fascinating stories of his encounters with the ferocious beasts of the jungle. Unopened material for card sets from the 1930s is exceedingly rare. These extraordinary high-grade unopened wax packs are in virtually perfect condition, looking exactly as they did when they were sent from the factory to the gum and candy distributor in 1938. They have remained untouched in the original display box since 1938. Each pack contains one card for a total of sixty-six cards. Packs are all unopened, in the original display box, in Excellent or better condition, with only normal packing and storage wear. (Sometimes in the manufacturer's packaging process a pack can have a tiny corner tear or minor imperfection.) The display box has normal shelf wear, some light soiling on top of the box, and a two-inch tear on a side panel that does not affect the exceptional display value. The box is bright and clean with an overall strong Vg-Ex appearance. Also included are two additional packs from this box that have been opened (original gum and wrappers also included) plus two extra cards. Reserve $5,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $29,375
