1952 Topps "Look 'n See" Complete Set (135)
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,763
This is an extremely attractive, exceptionally high grade complete set of 1952 Topps "Look 'n See," one of the great classics of early 1950s nonsport card issues and one of the earliest of all Topps sets. "Look 'n See" is one of the most highly regarded and collected of all postwar sets. This was an extremely ambitious concept for a set, with a strong historical and educational content. The card fronts feature full-color portraits of famous people from all eras and areas of history. Any kid collecting and studying this set could not help but learn about and develop a greater interest in world history. Of the 135 cards in this extremely impressive high-grade set, twenty-six (19% of the set) have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA, including the only sports figure and one of the key cards in the set, Babe Ruth (PSA NM-MT 8), and key rare card #82 Rembrandt (PSA EX 5). The PSA grades are as follows: Three MINT 9 (OC): #44, 53, and 123. Eight NM-MT 8: #5 (OC), 15 Ruth, 27 (OC), 58 (OC), 63 (OC), 71, 87, and 104 (OC). Ten NM 7: #18, 20, 21, 35, 40, 56, 81, 111, 117, and 126. Three EX-MT 6: #2, 107, and 127. Two EX 5: #1 Roosevelt and 82 Rembrandt. The balance of cards in the set grade 5% Nr/Mt, 60% Ex to Ex-Mt (including #30 Lindbergh and #45 Earhart), 35% Vg to Vg-Ex. This classic and always very popular nonsport set is filled with many great historical figures. This is an extremely fresh, clean, and sharp-looking set in particularly strong condition for this scarce, early Topps issue. Total 135 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,763
