1887-1890 Allen & Ginter Large-Size Nonsport Tobacco-Card Collection (20 cards)

Collection of twenty rarer large-size Allen & Ginter tobacco cards dating from 1887 to 1890 includes representation from eight different issues. The condition technically ranges in grade from Fair to Vg-Ex; however, these cards have been downgraded for mostly minor back damage including hints of paper loss and glue residue from long ago being glued in an album and later removed. Most of the fronts of the cards have an Excellent or better appearance. 1) 1887 N35 American Editors (4 cards): #6 Bennett (Vg), 17 Dawson (Gd), 18 Deyoung (Vg-Ex), and 20 Forman (Vg). 2) 1888 N36 The American Indian (2 cards): Big Snake (Fr-Gd) and Black Hawk/SF (Gd due to paper loss to reverse, front is Ex). 3) 1890 N37 Birds of America (6 cards): Catbird (Gd), Crossbill (Gd), Osprey (Gd-Vg), Scarlet Tanager (Gd-Vg), Snow Bird (Gd-Vg), Wood Thrush (Gd). 4) 1889 N38 Birds of the Tropics (1 card): Tropic Bird (Fr). 5) 1889 N39 Fish from American Waters (1 card): Pickerel (Gd-Vg). 6) 1889 N40 Game Birds (3 cards): American Bittern (Gd), Brent Goose (Gd-Vg), and Canada Grouse (Gd-Vg). 7) 1889 N42 Song Birds of the World (2 cards): Azuvert (Vg) and Indigo Bird (Vg-Ex). 8) 1889 N44 The World’s Decorations (1 card): #43 Jewel of order of St. Patrick, Gt. Britain (Gd). This is a very attractive low- to mid-grade collection of tobacco cards from eight of the nineteenth century's most popular and classic sets. Total 20 cards. Reserve $100.
