1909-1911 E90-1 American Caramel Willie Keeler - Throwing
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,528
Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. Only one example graded at this level, with just three examples graded higher by PSA. Presented is an exceptionally strong example of one of the key rarities in the entire E90-1 American Caramel series (and of all caramel cards): the horizontal throwing pose of Hall of Famer Wee Willie Keeler. Reminiscent of Christy Mathewson in the 1914 and 1915 Cracker Jack sets, Keeler is a key Hall of Famer that has two poses in E90-1 set. The portrait pose is relatively common. The horizontal throwing pose is extremely rare. This card is a stunner! It is bright and clean, both front and back, with a bold red background, even wear to the corners, and no creases. This is a tremendous example of a key Hall of Famer rarity from the most popular caramel card set of the era that would be at home in any world-class caramel card or Hall of Fame card collection. The SMR value for the assigned grade is $1,100. We can't help but think that is low and simply does not take into account the extreme rarity of this card. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+.
