1986-1987 Michael Jordan Game-Used Chicago Bulls Home Jersey

Starting Bid - $5,000, Sold For - $11,750

Chicago Bulls road jersey worn by Michael Jordan during is 1986-1987 "breakout" season. Graded A10 by MEARS. This is an extremely rare high-grade Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls jersey. Currently there are thirty-one Michael Jordan Chicago Bull jerseys listed in the MEARS census; however, only four, including this example, are graded a perfect A10. The fact that it dates from one of Jordan's greatest seasons, as well as its being from so early in his career, makes this a particularly desirable Jordan jersey. The white mesh jersey is lettered "Bulls" across the front and features the number "23" on the front and reverse. "Jordan" is lettered on the reverse above the number. All front letters and numerals are appliqued in red on black, while all reverse letters are appliqued in solid red (each by means of a heat-transfer process). Located on the left front tail are a "Sand-Knit 44" label, a "Sand-Knit" exclusivity label (reading in part "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Chicago Bulls - National Basketball Association"), and a white strip tag that is embroidered "2" LB" (extra two inches in body length). Ironically, the lack of any year tags actually allows for the jersey to be accurately dated. The 1986-1987 season was the only year in which Sand-Knit did not attach year tags on the shirt tails of Bulls jerseys. The jersey is original and unaltered, displaying moderate wear throughout. The 1986-1987 season was the year in which Michael Jordan firmly established himself as the game's greatest player. Playing in just his third NBA season, Jordan averaged a career-high 37.1 points per game in leading the Bulls to the postseason for the third consecutive year. Jordan led the NBA in points, points per game, games played, minutes played, field goals, field goal attempts, free throws, and free throw attempts. Those extraordinary numbers later earned him All NBA 1st Team honors at season's end as well as a second place finish in the MVP Voting. Graded A10 by MEARS. This is an exceptional Michael Jordan jersey in all respects, has been consigned from perhaps the most advanced Jordan collection ever assembled, and is among the very finest we have ever seen or handled. LOA from Troy Kinunen/MEARS. Reserve $5,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $11,750
