Circa 1910 E92, E94, E95, and E96 Caramel-Card Collection (8)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,880
Collection of eight different 1910-era caramel cards consisting of one E92 Dockman & Sons, one E94 George Close Candy, five E95 Philadelphia Caramels, and one E96 Philadelphia Caramel, including two Hall of Famers. Each card has been graded and encapsulated by PSA or SGC: 1) E92 Dockman & Sons: Casey (SGC VG 40, centered to the left, and with a brilliant image set against a bold red background). 2) E94 George Close Candy: Devore (SGC VG/EX 50, incredibly sharp card! Bright and clean front and back, with a perfectly registered image set against a deep green background, and four square corners; only one tiny crease keeps this card from Ex-Mt). 3) E95 Philadelphia Caramel (5 cards): Frank Chance (HOF, PSA VG-EX 4, centered slightly to the right, with flawless registration, and perfect colors), Devlin (PSA VG-EX 4, well centered with vibrant colors and a clean reverse, looks Ex, grades Vg-Ex only due to a single very small and light surface crease), Maddox (SGC VG/EX 50), Christy Mathewson (HOF, PSA VG 3, nice-looking card for the grade, one of Matty's most popular cards and far rarer than T205 or T206; it is interesting to note Mathewson's name is misspelled as "Matthewson"), and Willett (PSA VG 3, it is interesting to note Willett's name is misspelled as "Willetts"). 4) E96 Philadelphia Caramel: Murray (SGC VG 40, centered slightly to the left, and with vibrant colors). This is a very attractive collection of caramel cards from four of the era's most popular and classic sets. Total 8 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $1,880
