Circa 1910 Ty Cobb Caramel Cards (2)

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,819

Beautiful pair of Ty Cobb caramel cards, each graded by SGC: 1) 1909 E95 Philadelphia Caramel Ty Cobb (VG 40). Extremely attractive example of Ty Cobb from the E95 Philadelphia Caramel series, one of Cobb's most beautifully designed cards and the key card from this rare and classic 1910-era candy set. The image on this card is unique to the E95 set. This is an extremely strong mid-grade example which, at a glance, appears Excellent. The card has a little corner wear (predominately the upper left), and is centered slightly to the bottom left. A very-minor light diagonal crease in the upper left corner does not in the least distract from the perfectly registered bold image. The background is bright and bold. The checklist-reverse is bright and clean with bold black text. Extraordinary eye-appeal. 2) 1910 E93 Standard Caramel Ty Cobb (GOOD 30). Bright and clean, with perfect registration, four square corners, vibrant colors, and centered slightly to the right. The back is also bright and clean, with very bold text. Evidence of scrapbook removal including a slight hint of paper loss in all four corners on the reverse (not affecting any text) is solely responsible for keeping this card from receiving a much higher grade. This is an extremely impressive pair of classic Ty Cobb cards, each with an appearance far superior to its technically accurate SGC grade. Total 2 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $3,819
