Val Picinich Photo Collection - Including Six Conlon Photos (19)

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,058

This large photo collection from the estate of Val Picinich is highlighted by six original Charles Conlon photos and an impressive minor-league team panorama from 1917. Nearly all of the photos here picture Val Picinich, either alone or with various teammates. 1-6) Six Original Charles Conlon Photos. Five of the photos picture Picinich, while the sixth captures infielder Eddie Foster (with Washington, circa 1912-1915). One of the Picinich photos pictures him with Washington (circa 1918-1922), three capture him as a member of Cincinnati (circa 1926-1928), and the last depicts him with the Brooklyn Dodgers (circa 1930-1933). All of the photos feature Conlon's proprietary stamp on the reverse (five bear Evening Telegram stamps, the other bears a Sporting News stamp) and three have the player's name and team written on the reverse (presumably in Conlon's hand). Sizes range from 4 x 5.5 to 8 x 10 inches (Foster photo). The Foster photo is in Very Good condition, while the Picinich photos are all in Excellent condition. 2-3) 1917 Atlanta Team Panorama with Accompanying Real-Photo Postcard. The panorama, which measures 26.75 x 9.5 inches, captures nineteen members of the 1917 Atlanta Base Ball Club, champions of the Southern Association that year. The players, including Picinich, are pictured standing shoulder-to-shoulder in front of the grandstand and are identified in print below their respective image (last name only). "Atlanta Base-Ball Club - Pennant Winners 1917" is lettered in white along the top border. The photographer's credit ("Francis E. Price") appears along the base. The photo displays exceptional clarity and is in Excellent to Mint collection. Framed to total dimensions of 29 x 11.5 inches. Accompanying the panorama is an undated real-photo postcard picturing the Atlanta Base Ball Club, including Picinich, in a different team pose. The card has not been mailed and is in Very Good to Excellent condition. 4-19) Sixteen Assorted Original Photos. All but one of the photos pictures Picinich (the one that doesn't captures a stadium crowd) and range in date from the 1920s through the 1930s. One duplicate is included. The sizes range from 3.5 x 4.5 to 10 x 8 inches and the photos are in overall Very Good to Excellent Condition. Total: 19 photos. Reserve $200. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,058
