1958 World Series Milwaukee Braves Complete-Ticket Collection (4)
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $1,175
Collection of four complete World Series tickets to each of the games played at Milwaukee’s County Stadium in 1958: Game 1, Game 2, Game 6, and Game 7. Each of the tickets (7.5 x 2.25 inches) has been individually encapsulated and graded Mint 9 by PSA. The ticket for Game 2 is especially desirable due to the fact that Mickey Mantle hit two home runs in the game. (Mantle World Series home-run tickets are highly collectible.) The Yankees defeated the Braves in seven games in 1958, thereby avenging their previous year’s World Series loss to Milwaukee. For the Yankees, it was their 18th World Championship in franchise history, and for manager Casey Stengel it marked his seventh and final World Championship with the club. Complete World Series tickets from the 1950s, let alone pristine examples such as these, are rare and highly coveted by collectors today. The current SMR value for this group is $3,600. Total: 4 complete tickets. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,175
