1969 Seattle Pilots Team-Signed Ball
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $529
This rare and historic 1969 Seattle Pilots team-signed baseball dates from the club’s first and only season in Seattle. Twenty-four team members have signed this official American League (Cronin) ball in either blue or black ink, including Joe Schultz (Mgr., sweet spot, clubhouse signature), Gil, Locker, Bouton, Ranew, McNertney, Segui, Barber, Crosetti (coach, clubhouse signature), Stephenson, Whitaker, Brabender, Donaldson, Davis, Comer, Lund, Roggenburk, Hegan, Talbot, Oyler (clubhouse signature), and Rollins. Signatures range from “7” to “10,” averaging “9/10.” The ball is in Near Mint condition. This is one of the ultimate and ideal souvenirs from this short-lived franchise. The Pilots only lasted one year before financial problems forced the owners to sell the club to a group of investors led by Bud Selig, who is now the Commissioner of Baseball. Selig renamed the team the Brewers and moved the club to Milwaukee the following season, thus officially ending the short history of the Seattle Pilots. This is an exceptional high-grade 1969 Seattle Pilots team-signed ball and one of the finest examples we have ever seen. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$800. SOLD FOR $529
