1961 New York Yankees Autographed Display with Mantle, Maris, and Howard

Starting Bid - $300.00 , Sold For - $1,057.50

This visually impressive wall display pays homage to the legendary 1961 New York Yankees and is comprised of a team-signed photo and three complimentary pieces signed, respectively, by Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, and Elston Howard. Sitting in the center of the display is an 8 x 10-inch black-and-white photo of the 1961 Yankees signed in blue Sharpie by the following twenty-five team members: Ford, Skowron, Reniff, Crosetti, Houk, Sain, Berra, Boyer, Reed, Tresh, Hale, De Maestri, Kubek, Clevenger, Terry, Lopez, Cerv, Turley, Richardson, Downing, Blanchard, Stafford, Sheldon, Coates, and Daley. The light impression of a printed name (possibly the former owner) is visible along the top border (it is extremely light, only able to be seen when viewed carefully at certain angles; we questioned whether this should even be mentioned but are doing so only for the sake of extreme accuracy, since it is of absolutely no consequence with reference to display), otherwise the photo is in Near Mint condition. Mounted on either side of the photo and below it are 1) a 1979 TCMA baseball card (#161) of Roger Maris, signed by Maris in blue marker on the front. PSA graded Ex-Mt 6; 2) a 1957 Topps baseball card (#82) of Elston Howard, signed by Howard in blue ink on the front. PSA graded Ex 5; 3) a 1986 Gateway cachet commemorating the 25th anniversary of the record set by Maris and Mantle in 1961 for home runs by two teammates (115), signed by Mantle in blue ink on the front. Nr-Mt. Encapsulated by PSA. All twenty-eight signatures featured here are flawless examples and grade a perfect "10." The four pieces are housed within an ornate gilt-edged frame that measures 25 x 21 inches. This is a stunning presentation piece and one that would be perfect for display in either the home or office. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,057.50
