Unique Collection of Signed Replica and Store-Model Jerseys Including Ted Williams, Hank Aaron, and Willie Mays (27)

Starting Bid - $1,000.00 , Sold For - $16,450.00

This unique collection of twenty-seven jerseys is comprised of sixteen replica flannel jerseys and eleven knit store-model jerseys, each individually signed by the respective player to whom the jersey number and/or sewn-in name corresponds. It must be emphasized that all of the jerseys offered here, many of which are tagged to look exactly like "authentic" Major League jerseys, are replicas or store-model jerseys and were never issued to, or worn by, the players who have signed them. However, the exacting nature of these reproductions, especially with regard to the flannel examples, which were created using vintage fabric and materials, distinguishes them from the more familiar reproductions on the market today, such as Mitchell & Ness jerseys. These are magnificent for display. Represented here are sixteen different Hall of Fame players as well as a number of players who most assuredly will be inducted into Cooperstown's hallowed halls in the near future. Unless otherwise noted, all of the jerseys display light-to-moderate wear and are in overall Excellent condition. The signatures have been scripted in either blue or black marker. In addition to permanently archiving images of these jerseys, each has been secretly marked in a manner to ensure they can be identified in the future as replicas. Among the many highlights are a circa 1950s-style Boston Red Sox home flannel jersey signed in blue Sharpie ("8/9") on the front by Ted Williams (moderate tear on rear of right sleeve), a 1955 Milwaukee Braves home flannel jersey signed in black marker ("6") in the collar by Hank Aaron , a 1957 New York Giants home flannel jersey signed in blue marker ("6") in the collar by Willie Mays , and a 1942 St. Louis Cardinals home flannel jersey inscribed twice in black marker by Stan Musial (the front reads "Best Always 1942 - 1988 - Stan Musial." The back reads "To George M. Lyons - I always wore #6 your dad was #1 - 1942 - 1988 - Stan Musial." Both inscriptions grade "6/7" on average). The remaining flannel jerseys consist of the following: a 1954 Cleveland Indians road jersey signed ("9") in the collar by Bob Lemon ; a 1940 St. Louis Cardinals home jersey signed ("8") in the collar by Johnny Mize ; a 1965 San Francisco Giants home jersey signed twice (once in the collar, grading "7/8" and again on the front, grading "6") by Warren Spahn (the jersey is moderately soiled and has a repaired tear along the front); a 1953 Detroit Tigers home jersey signed ("7/8") in the collar by Al Kaline ; a 1954 Cleveland Indians home jersey inscribed in black on the front ("5/6/") by Bob Feller ("Best Wishes Bob Feller 1954-1989"); a 1970 San Francisco Giants home jersey signed ("6") in the collar by Gaylord Perry ; a 1967 Cincinnati Reds road jersey signed ("9") in the collar by Johnny Bench ; a 1956 Chicago White Sox road jersey signed ("8/9") in the collar by Luis Aparicio ; a 1940s style New York Giants jersey signed ("5," minor bleeding and a stray marker notation) in the collar by Carl Hubbell ; a 1940s style St. Louis Cardinals jersey signed twice by Enos Slaughter (once in the collar, grading "9/10" and again on the front, "Enos Slaughter 9," grading "6"); a 1941 New York Giants home jersey signed ("5/6") in the collar by Bill Terry (the back of the jersey is in poor condition, including damage to the number "3" and loss of fabric, the front displays beautifully); and a 1954 New York Yankees jersey signed ("7/8") in the collar by Billy Martin . The knit jerseys offered here are all store-model jerseys, but many have had additional replica tagging added to foster the appearance of an authentic Major League jersey. The eleven knit jerseys consist of a 1994 Seattle Mariners alternate jersey signed ("7") on the front by Ken Griffey Jr .; a 1996 Boston Red Sox road jersey signed ("8") in the collar by Roger Clemens ; a 1976 San Francisco Giants home jersey signed ("8") in the collar by Willie McCovey (heavy staining along the base of the jersey on both the front and back); a 1975 New York Yankees road jersey signed ("8") in the collar by Ron Guidry ("Gid" is also written in the collar in black marker); a 1996 St. Louis Cardinals road jersey signed ("6") in the collar by Ozzie Smith ; two (2) 1983 New York Yankees jerseys (one home, one road), each signed in the collar by Don Mattingly (the road jersey is inscribed "Don Mattingly 1987 - #23"); a 1994 Houston Astros home jersey signed ("6") in the collar by Jeff Bagwell (the jersey is heavily soiled); a 1994 Texas Rangers home jersey signed ("8") on the reverse by Will Clark (the jersey is heavily soiled); a 1993 Florida Marlins home jersey signed ("7") in the collar by Rene Lachemann ; and a 1994 San Francisco Giants jersey signed twice (in the collar and on the reverse, both "8/9") by Matt Williams (moderate soiling). LOA from James Spence/JSA. Total: 27 signed replica jerseys. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $16,450.00
