Circa 1940 Honus Wagner Single-Signed Ball

Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $1,880.00

Official National League (Frick) ball inscribed on the sweet spot by Honus Wagner. Wagner has added the salutation "to Jackie" below his name. Both the signature and inscription grade between "6" and “7.” This style ball dates from between 1934 and 1951, so this signed ball dates from Wagner's coaching days with the Pirates. The ball is moderately toned and displays a circular area of indentation and discoloration along the south panel resulting from the ball’s previous method of display. In Very Good Condition overall. Honus Wagner single-signed balls have long been highly prized by collectors. The offered ball represents an exceptional mid-grade example dating from his post-playing career when he was literally a living legend on the field as a coach. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,880.00
