Ed Walsh Signed Black-and-White Hall of Fame Postcard

Starting Bid - $200.00 , Sold For - $470.00

Black-and-white (Albertype) Hall of Fame postcard of Ed Walsh, signed in blue ink (grading “9/10”) in the lower margin. Black-and-white Hall of Fame postcards were only issued between the years 1944 and 1963. Walsh was inducted in 1949 and passed away in 1959, thus leaving collectors with only a ten-year span in which to get his signature on these black-and-white Hall of Fame postcards, which was not helped by his general inaccessability. The card displays an extremely tiny chip in the upper left corner and two very insignificant strips of clear tape on the reverse (almost undetectable and in our opinion not necessary to remove) related to its having been previously mounted. Vg-Ex. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $470.00
