1895 N300 Mayo's Cut Plug Bobby Lowe
Starting Bid - $300.00 , Sold For - $1,057.50
Graded EX+ 70 by SGC. Highest-graded example! Extremely high-grade example of second baseman Bobby Lowe from the Boston Beaneaters of the National League. Lowe (along with Kid Nichols and Herman Long) starred on all five Beaneater pennant winners of the 1890s, playing second base for an infield that is considered the best of the nineteenth century. Though not a Hall of Famer, Lowe has always been considered worthy of consideration by many historians, and he will always be one of the game's immortals. In 1894, Lowe became the first major leaguer to homer four times in one game. This card has a sharp portrait image, even wear to the corners, a tiny chip on the left border, and is centered slightly to the left. The back is clean with only the lightest edge wear. This is a strong high-grade Mayo's example featuring one of the premier stars of the nineteenth-century. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,057.50
