Mel Ott Signed Black-and-White Hall of Fame Postcard

Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $1,997.50

Black-and-white (Albertype) Hall of Fame postcard of Mel Ott, signed in blue ink (grading “10”) in the center of the card, which is typical for Ott (this is where he always signed). The signature has been extremely boldly scripted and contrasts magnificently against the dark background. This is an ideal signed Mel Ott Hall of Fame postcard. Ott is not only extremely desirable because of his status as a member of the 500 Home Run Club, he is also one of the key rarities among all signed Hall of Fame postcards. Ott was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1951 but passed away prematurely in 1958, thus contributing to the rarity of his signature in general, and on Hall of Fame postcards in particular, today. This is an outstanding example in Excellent condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,997.50
