Circa 1932 Babe Ruth Signed Baseball
Starting Bid - $1,000.00 , Sold For - $4,112.50
Pennant "Special League" baseball signed in black fountain pen by both Babe Ruth and Lefty Gomez. This ball displays beautifully as a Ruth single. Ruth's signature occupies its customary position on the sweet spot and is the stronger of the two signatures, grading "7." Gomez's signature ("Vernon Gomez") sits upon the south panel and grades "5." Ruth and Gomez were teammates on the Yankees from 1930 through 1934, and it is a virtual certainty that this ball was signed during that five-year span. Ruth-signed balls dating from his active playing career are especially highly prized by collectors and this ball has the added attraction, as noted, of displaying as a Ruth single if so desired. The ball displays light soiling and all of the manufacturer's stampings remain bold and legible. Excellent condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $4,112.50
