1932 New York Giants Team-Signed Sheets in Framed Display with Ott and Terry
Starting Bid - $300.00 , Sold For - $1,175.00
Collection of three 3.5 x 5-inch colored sheets (taken from a vintage autograph album) featuring the combined signatures of thirty-three members of the 1932 New York Giants including Hall of Famers Ott, Terry, Bancroft, Jackson, and Lindstrom. Each autograph album sheet presents eleven different signatures, all of which have been scripted in blue fountain pen. Sheet One: Ethan Allen, Dave Bancroft (coach), Bob O'Farrell, Sam Leslie, Sam Gibson, Bill Walker, Hi Bell, Eddie Moore, Roy Parmalee, Hal Schumacher, and Dolf Luque. Sheet Two: Jim Chaplin, Gilbert English, Travis Jackson, Doc Marshall, Freddie Fitzsimmons, Tom Clarke (coach), Hughie Critz, Jim Mooney, Emil Planeta, Packy White, and Chick Fullis. Sheet Three: Fran Healy, Johnny Vergez, Bill Terry, Fred Lindstrom, Len Koenecke, Mel Ott, Joe Martin, Howard Signor, Frank Hogan, Jo-Jo Moore, and Alfred Smith. These sheets were most likely signed during spring training, as a few of the players, such as Smith, Chaplin, White, and Planeta, did not appear on the official roster that year, but were at spring training in 1932 and did play for the Giants either prior to or after 1932. The 1932 season marked an historic year for the New York Giants due to the resignation of manager John McGraw after forty games. McGraw joined the Giants as manager in 1902 and led the club to ten pennants and three World Championships during his thirty-one year tenure. First baseman Bill Terry replaced McGraw as manager and led the club to a World Championship the following year. The signatures are all boldly scripted, ranging in grade from "8" to "10," averaging "9." The three sheets are in apparent Near Mint condition and have been matted and framed together to total dimensions of 17 x 10 inches. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,175.00
