Early Hall of Fame Signed Photo Collection in Framed Displays (45 Different Hall of Famers!)

Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $1,880.00

This collection of forty-five Hall of Fame signed photographs is devoted almost exclusively to those players whose career ended before 1950. All but three of the photos are individually signed. Unless otherwise noted, all of the photos measure either 7 x 9 or 8 x 10 inches and are black-and-white photo prints in Near Mint condition; signed in either blue or black marker (grading "9/10') by the player pictured; and framed to slightly larger dimensions. These signed Hall of Fame photos could easily be removed from their frames, of course. This is a quality collection, carefully assembled, and with many rare Hall of Fame signatures. Framed, they represent a ready-to-hang gallery ideal for display, just as they were for years on the walls of our consignor, a longtime advanced collector. Four of the players (Dickey, Harris, Lyons, and Marquard) are represented more than once. Single-Signed Photos: Luke Appling (6 x 9 inches), Earl Averill (color-tinted photo), Dave Bancroft (Bancroft has signed a 6.5 x 10-inch team photo of the Philadelphia Phillies, circa 1916), Joe Cronin , Kiki Cuyler (3.5 x 5.5 inch vintage photo, inscribed in black fountain pen, "To My pal John - Good Luck Always - Kiki," "6/7"), Bill Dickey (four different photos, one color, one 6 x 9 inches, three not framed), Bobby Doerr , Leo Durocher , Rick Ferrell , Elmer Flick (2.25 x 3.25 inches, blue ink), Charlie Gehringer (5.5 x 9 inches), Lefty Gomez (color photo), Goose Goslin (vintage print, black fountain pen inscription "To Tom E. Jack - Goose Goslin," "4"), Hank Greenberg (4 x 9 inch cut newspaper photo), Will Harridge (4.5 x 6.5 inches), Bucky Harris (two photos, one 3.25 x 5.25 inches signed in blue ink, the other signed in black ink), Billy Herman , Waite Hoyt , Carl Hubbell , Travis Jackson , George L. Kelly , Kenesaw Landis (5.5 x 3.5 inches, signed in black fountain pen, not framed), Freddie Lindstrom (color-tinted photo), Ted Lyons (two different photos, one not framed), Rube Marquard (two identical photos, one not framed, one signed in black ink), Joe McCarthy (5 x 4.5 inches, blue ink), Hal Newhouser , Herb Pennock (black fountain pen inscription, "To Eddie with kindest regards and best wishes - Herb"), Edd Roush (not framed), Ray Schalk (6 x 8 inches, blue ink, "8"), Joe Sewell , Bill Terry , Arky Vaughan (3.5 x 7-inch cut newspaper photo, black ink, "8"), Lloyd Waner , Paul Waner (3 x 8-inch cut newspaper photo, blue ink), Zack Wheat (2.75 x 3.5 inches, blue ink). Multi-Signed Photos: 1) wire photo picturing portrait images of Rube Marquard, Chick Hafey, George Weiss, Dave Bancroft, Harry Hooper, and Joe Kelley; signed by Marquard ("3") and Bancroft in blue ink and Hooper ("6/7) in black ink (not framed). 2) photo of Ted Williams and Bill Terry, signed by both. 3) photo of Yogi Berra and Bill Dickey, signed by both (not framed). Please Note: Due to the number of framed items in this lot, shipping costs (depending on where it is sent and its method of shipping) may be substantial. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Total: 45 photos (36 framed). Reserve $500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,880.00
