1971 Topps PSA-Graded Complete Set: #3 PSA Set Registry

Starting Bid - $10,000.00 , Sold For - $29,375.00

Offered is one of the most extraordinary ultra high-grade complete sets of 1971 Topps baseball cards ever assembled. The black flush-to-the-border design of the 1971 Topps set makes this issue particularly challenging to collect in extremely high grade. This is by far the finest set of this popular 1970s issue we have ever seen or offered. All 752 cards have been graded and encapsulated by PSA. Included are fifty-nine MINT 9s, 692 NM-MT 8s, and one NM 7. This set is currently registered as the third-highest-graded set on the "PSA Set Registry" with an astounding average grade of 8.10. Two consecutive years (2005 and 2006) this set was the #1 Set on the "PSA Set Registry." The grades for the entire set can easily be accessed online on the PSA Set Registry under "Spring 2008 REA." The PSA grades are as follows: Fifty-nine MINT 9: #14, 27, 34, 51, 61, 64, 66, 71, 72, 123, 140 Perry (HOF), 161, 172, 194, 232, 241, 250 Bench (HOF), 266, 268, 311, 324, 329, 336, 360, 369, 386, 399, 423, 446, 448, 452, 458, 465, 467, 482, 493, 522, 531, 563, 580 Perez (HOF), 603, 605 Cepeda, 611, 613, 620, 631, 641, 644, 652, 654, 671, 721, 732, 737, 738, 742, 745, 746, and 747. 692 NM-MT 8: including #5 Munson, 20 Jackson (HOF), 26 Blyleven RC, 50 McCovey (HOF), 55 Carlton (HOF), 100 Rose, 160 Seaver (HOF), 180 Kaline (HOF), 210 Carew (HOF), 300 B. This set has been assembled with great care over a period of many years, with a concern for all factors, but with a special consideration for overall eye appeal, which is evident throughout. Also please note that, as is the case with all cards in this entire auction, none of these cards has been submitted for review for the recently introduced PSA half-grades. There is no question that a great number of these cards would be awarded higher half-grades if submitted for review. This is an extraordinary and simply spectacular high-grade complete set of one of the most condition-sensitive of all card sets from any era. One of the finest sets in the world that has been or that ever will be assembled of this classic Topps issue. The total SMR value for the individual cards is $26,821. Total 752 cards. Reserve $10,000. Estimate $20,000+. SOLD FOR $29,375.00
