1957 Topps Uncut Sheet with #95 Mickey Mantle

Starting Bid - $500.00 , Sold For - $1,645.00

1957 Topps production uncut sheet of 110 cards is highlighted by the key card to the set: #95 Mickey Mantle. All cards on this sheet are from the second series (#89-176). This is a final production sheet with fully printed backs. Additional Hall of Famers include Duke Snider, Al Kaline, Warren Spahn, Bob Lemon, and Red Schoendienst. This 110-card sheet is technically defined as a partial sheet, as 1957 Topps were printed in 132-card production sheets. Two eleven-card rows at the top have long ago been neatly cut away, but the sheet certainly has the presence of a full-sheet display. This partial sheet originates from the famous Al Rosen find of 1957 Topps sheets discovered years ago, almost all of which were very heavily damaged. Some full sheets and many partial sheets in various conditions were salvageable, including this one, which despite its condition problems, is actually one of the best examples we have seen, and displays beautifully. The key card #95 Mickey Mantle has two light creases, primarily in the background surrounding Mantle’s image. Technically the sheet is in approximately Good condition due to various flaws, including a large 6-inch tear on the top border and ten small holes, but if framed on the wall, as our consignor displayed this piece in his collection, the sheet has tremendous display value and an overall Excellent appearance. This is a rare near-complete 1957 Topps partial uncut sheet from a historic sheet find, highlighted by the key Hall of Famer in the set. It is also a rarely offered, relatively affordable, yet still ideal for display, alternative to a problem-free full sheet, if one exists and were available for sale. The sheet measures 28 x 35.5 inches. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $1,645.00
