1927 E210 York Caramels Collection (14)
Starting Bid - $200.00 , Sold For - $1,175.00
Collection of fourteen different 1927 E210 York Caramels including four Hall of Famers: #9 George Burns, 11 George Uhle, 15 Clarence Mitchell, 28 Tris Speaker (HOF, Vg-Ex), 29 Ralph Perkins, 32 Max Carey (HOF, Vg), 35 Clifton Heathcot, 49 Leon "Goose" Goslin (HOF, Vg-Ex/Ex), 51 Jimmie Dykes, 52 Fred Williams, 55 Ed Rommel, 56 Roger Peckinpaugh, 57 Stanley Coveleskie (HOF, Vg), and 58 Clarence Gallaway. Six cards range from Vg-Ex to Ex, four are Vg, and four have paper loss on the reverse. York Caramels issued this unusual set in 1927. The set is identical in design to several other issues of the era, such as Tharps Ice Cream, Sweetman, and Harrington's Ice Cream, but with advertising for the "York Caramel Co." of York, Pennsylvania, on the reverse. Collectors have always appreciated the rarity and primitive charm of this distinctive candy issue. York Caramels appear to have been regionally issued, as they are rarely found outside of the Pennsylvania area. This is an attractive group of these unusual and scarce 1920s cards, representing 23% of a complete set. Total 14 cards. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $1,175.00
