1888 A16 Allen & Ginter World's Champions Album

Starting Bid - $300.00 , Sold For - $1,762.50

1888 First Series Allen & Ginter World's Champions premium album features all fifty cards from the N28 Allen & Ginter set, including ten baseball players (Anson, Kelly, Clarkson, Comiskey, Keefe, Ward, etc.), and nine boxers (Sullivan). The tobacco companies spared no expense in producing these gorgeous full-color lithographic premium albums, which were available only by mail in exchange for coupons packed with tobacco products (in this case Allen & Ginter). This 14-page album (including covers) is in very high grade for any 1880s tobacco premium album. All pages are bright, crisp, and clean. This is a beautiful album. The twelve interior pages are extremely strong, grading Ex to Nr/Mt (averaging Ex+ overall). The front and back covers have string binding holes torn, which is not uncommon with tobacco albums, but each is otherwise in very clean Vg-Ex condition. All the pages have been separated from the original string binding but could easily be put back together with the original string, which is included. Strong condition overall for this classic, extremely popular and colorful premium album, which represents such an outstanding value among nineteenth-century tobacco issues. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,762.50
